The classification number(s) may be qualified by explanatory information when the heading is represented by more than one number in the same classification scheme.

Each classification number or number span associated with a heading is contained in a separate field 087. Government document classification number is an agency-assigned data element. It is assigned by designated agencies in government classification programs.
